N&W Would Be So Proud....
Title:  N&W Would Be So Proud....
Description:  Another of the ex-NS nee-CR units found its way to Taft & decided to stay around, hopefully for as long as most of the other local power does (a month or more sometimes). A786 went on the law on the RC Branch & A776's crew drove down to finish their work & bring the train back to Taft Yard. Seeing this ominous black figure running long hood forward (not to mention with no ditchlights) on the horizon brought back memories of N&W. Clinchfield & Penn Central also came to mind.

A776 w/CSXT 5966
Title:  A776 w/CSXT 5966
Description:  Variety is back on CSXT consists without the assistance of leasers. There was a time when you said "engine CSXT ****", there were a good number of paint schemes it could be. The recent addition of ex-NS nee-CR B40's added a few that had been repainted in NS colors, then amended for CSXT giving them a "quasi-CRR" (WofA or A&WP for that matter) look. An easy "heritage" unit if they wanna slap "Clinchfield" on the hood! Sunlight illuminates the CSXT road number on cab.

Title:  Going, Going....
Description:  ...such an original header, you know how it ends tho :-) What you see is all that is left of FCEN's Forest City Branch that used to run all the way to 434 & 436 (and in years prior, all the way to Sanford). The line crossed at grade the mainline to Orlando underneath the overpass headed to Winter Garden. The bridge over US 441 will be dismanted withn a week of this photo. The branch served FCEN's short-lived dinner train & excursion steam in recent years & was last used for CSXT storage cars.

Local Landmark To Fall
Title:  Local Landmark To Fall
Description:  During the first week of June 2007, this very visible FCEN reference point will fall. It once carried the Forest City Branch over US 441, but the track has been removed & the bridge is coming down. Russell Automotive to the north of the bridge on the hill uses "the red railroad bridge" as a landmark in their local ads.
